Unplugged Experience Add-Ons

All Unplugged experiences come with the option to add on one or more of the following activities to enhance your experience. It is never necessary to bring your own equipment, we can fully outfit your group for any or all of the following.

Recreational Activities

  • Dip, Dip, Swing: Sea Kayaking or Canoeing (May - Oct) - $30/p, 2-3 hours
    Our introduction to paddling canoes or kayaks is filled with entertaining games and challenges that help your group get to know one another while learning to navigate among the islands.
  • Secret Life of Plants (May - Oct) - $30/p, 2-3 hours
    Explore the Forgotten Trails by foot, learning the secrets of the Algonquin Highlands forest, harvesting medicinal plants and wild edibles for a cup of tea and a natural snack.
  • Forgotten Trails Mountain Bike Quest - $40/p, 2-3 hours
    Basic biking instruction prepares you for rolling hills, pine-needle covered trails and corduroy roads on a guided journey of discovery. Consider upgrading to a Rails, Trails, and Ales weekend.
  • Fly By Safari - $40/p, 2-3 hours
    Join one of Ontario's renowned naturalist-birders on a bird-sighting expedition into the Algonquin wildlands. NIGHT EXPEDITION: Bard Owls and Bats take centre stage at night time, as well as many other mysteries in the dark forest.
  • Back-Country, Cross-Country Skiing (Winter) - $40/p, 2-3 hours
    Whether a beginner or an experienced Nordic skiier, our guides and local Forgotten Trails will warm the heart. Access stunning wilderness views and provide hours of fun.
  • Morning Tea with Moose (May - Aug Mornings) - $30/p, 2-3 hours
    Enjoy a silent morning paddle in the lily-filled Omable while sipping Algonquin teas and spying on the majestic moose.
  • Making Tracks (Winter) - $40/p, 2-3 hours
    Enjoy the quiet of winter, on a walk in the forest seeking out the tracks of wildlife, or choose to snowshoe on the lake and leave tracks of a different sort. A backcountry lunch nicely compliments this experience.
  • Quinzhee Camping (Winter) - $40/p/d, 2-3 hours for building activity
    Let us guide you on a backcountry winter excursion, where we'll spend the night in an overnight shelter we'll help you create out of snow! Enjoy hot food and the sights and sounds of winter close-up.
  • Trails and Tails (Winter) - $165/p, 5-6 hours
    Dog Sled with your own team of dogs on a backcountry trail for the day. This experience begins with instruction on the proper care and handling of your team and sled. (minimum 12 week notice required.)
  • Norwegian Kick-Sledding (Winter) - $30/p, 2 hours
    Kick sleds may look like dog sleds, but they are powered by the swing and kick of your leg taking you on a self propelled winter adventure.
  • Torch Lit Ice Skating (Winter) - $30/p, 2 hours
    Enjoy a memorable nighttime skate under the stars (includes skate rental.)
  • Hockey Night in Canada's Wilderness (Winter) - $40/p, 2-3 hours
    We'll bring out the nets, sticks, and jerseys for an old-fashioned game of shinny hockey, followed up by a traditional hot chocolate session (includes skate rental.)
  • Curling (Nov-Mar) - $30/p, 2 hours
    Let's have a bonspiel! We'll provide the equipment, instruction, and motivation required so that when that next big report is due, you'll have the courage to inspire your team with a hearty "HURRY, Hurry Hard!" to reach your goals.
  • Black Fly Fling (Summer) - $30/p, 2 hours
    Join us in Tom Thomson Park on the South River to play a few rounds of disc golf! We'll provide instruction and equipment.
  • Canoe/Kayak Excursion (May - Oct)
    Plan an overnight canoe trip in Algonquin Park or arrange a Georgian Bay sea kayaking excursion. Leave your cell phone and personal planner behind. Itineraries across Canada available.

Social Activities

  • Rails, Trails and Ales: Take the train from Toronto then hop on mountain bikes for a ride 20km ride through the forest. Beer tasting and Tour of Highlander Brew Co and pizza in the forest top off this experience nicely.
  • Just Face it
    Pair up and create masks individually suited to your face. Afterwards, decorate them in all manners of styles.
  • Feel the Rhythm
    Hand Drumming and Rhythm Percussion at the campfire, with the option to add other instruments as a jamming session if members of your group are inclined.

  • Howling at the Moon (Summer)
    Gather around the campfire to learn about the world of the Algonquin Park Wolf, then hide out in the forest with out Wolf Denning hide-and-seek style game; concluding your evening with a group wolf howl when everyone is found.
  • Star Stitching (Year Round)
    Few natural vistas can match the inspirational panorama of the Milky Way arching overhead in our dark sky. Learn of the constellations and their traditional stories. If we're lucky, the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) may even put on a show.
  • Quest for the Golden Nectar (Mar - Apr)
    Join us in our Sugar Shack to tap trees, boil sap, and bottle your own home made maple syrup in a decorative bottle. This is the perfect addition to a late-winter retreat.
  • Tom Thomson Experience
    Inspire the artist within with storytelling, nature excursions, and art experiences in the land of Canadian painter Tom Thomson. This can be paired up with the Tom Thomson Murder Mystery themed dinner.
  • Romancing the Stone (May - Oct)
    Gigantic inukshuks in the Canadian Northland, Stonehenge in the British Isles, and piles of stone the world over stant testimony to the enduring connection between stone and the human spirit. Together, we'll create amazingly improbable balancing stone sculptures.
  • The Sky's the Limit (Sep - Oct)
    Take a scenic flight over Algonquin Park aboard a float plane to enjoy the beautiful fall colours. Includes ground briefing and 30 minute flight. Also consider our option to arrive at the Edge by float plane.

  • A Labyrinth Story (Year Round)
    Learn about the history of the labyrinth and work with others to design and construct a large outdoor labyrinth. Take a heroes journey, and learn to use the laberynth for creativity, to experience stillness and silence, to seek wisdom.
  • Quest for Balance (Year Round)
    Find your Edge by practicing Yoga, a form of conditioning that brings about a sense of peace in a sometimes unbalanced world. At the lakefront, stretch your body and still your mind, finding sanctuary from the stress of life in the city.
  • The Corporate Shaman (Year Round)
    Look within using the power of Symbols, Ceremony, and Words to learn how to accomplish your goals with less effort and more joy. Learn to use these three simple tools to motivate and inspire your team.
